The following message was sent to students who had been released from the quarantine hotel before 14 days of quarantine from Residence Life and Housing

———————–

Hello –

We hope this message finds you settling back into campus. We wanted to write and provide some additional clarity on your status related to COVID-19.

While you were released from the hotel, you remain in a quarantine status until 14 days from the date of last exposure to a COVID-positive person. While the CDC has offered options for a shortened duration of quarantine, they continue to endorse a full 14-day quarantine to reduce the risk of transmission of infection. In addition, the University is using this 14-day approach as one of the measures to break the chain of COVID transmission.

For example: You went into quarantine on Jan. 31 and were released from the hotel on Feb. 7, which is day 7 of your quarantine. You will now quarantine-in-place in your residence hall/apartment/home through Feb. 14, with quarantine ending on Feb. 15.

From the date of your hotel release through day 14 of your quarantine, you are expected to:

  • Quarantine in your designated private bedroom, only leaving to utilize shared restrooms (where applicable), meet with medical or health care providers, or to exit the building for emergency evacuation.
    • When leaving their bedroom to access a bathroom or other common area, students should wash their hands for 20 seconds with warm water or use hand sanitizer and wear a mask that fits securely over their nose, mouth, and chin.
  • Not leave your room to get food from University dining or attend any other face-to-face activities.
  • Not attend classes in person.

You must also:

  • Wear a face mask at all times while in the presence of others (including housemates/suitemates/roommates).
  • Submit the Meal Delivery Preference Form so that meals will be delivered to your residence. Because you are in quarantine, you may not leave your residence to get food.
  • Not order external food delivery (DoorDash, Grubhub, etc.) as it would require you to leave your residence and have contact with others, putting them at risk.
  • Continue to monitor for symptoms and report even mild symptoms to the Student Health Service at 3367585218 or traceshs@wfu.edu.
  • Complete your SneezeSafe daily wellness survey.

You will receive a secure message with additional details on your release date as your quarantine progresses. We appreciate your patience in not contacting Student Health Services right now about quarantine end dates.

If you have questions, please contact us at housing@wfu.edu and we will get back to you as quickly as we can. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate this period.

Best –
