On May 3, the University announced the implementation of an interim policy that designated the time, place and manner for demonstrations that expires today, May 21. After discussing with and incorporating feedback from the presidents of Faculty Senate and Student Government, the following revised interim policies for demonstrations and chalking will take effect beginning tomorrow (May 22) through August 1:

Demonstrations

Place: The new designated area for demonstrations is Upper Davis Field. This area provides shade and is more centrally located.

Time: 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Manner: No amplified sound or music. No tents or other structures.

Chalking

Chalking is only permitted on the sidewalks in front of the main entrance to ZSR Library, across from Upper Davis Field. Chalking outside of this location or messaging that violates other applicable University policies will be removed.

An update on these and other policies for the 2024-2025 academic year will be provided by August 1. The University remains committed to upholding free expression while maintaining campus safety and preserving the academic mission.
