This summer our new students had an extra degree of early support via online advising tips provided by the Office of Academic Advising, and by student (peer) adviser volunteers who answered email questions and conducted skype conferences throughout the summer.  A new survey instrument allowed our new students to express course preferences and personal attributes both for registration purposes and for building a basis for a strong personal relationship with faculty advisers.

Since provisional registrations and foreign language placement tests occurred during the summer, our newly arrived students will be able to concentrate more on building good friendships, building a network of advisers and mentors, and learning about life on campus, without worrying about the need to construct a full-time course schedule from scratch.  Early first-year student registration has also led to changes that have helped our continuing students adjust schedules earlier and easier than before.

We wish everyone a great start to the semester!
