Student Health Insurance Deadline: August 19th – Action Needed
The following email was sent to parents of students who have not completed the Student Health Insurance waiver or purchased insurance coverage via the Student Blue Program (and for whom we had a valid email address). Students who do not show insurance coverage for the upcoming academic year have also received notifications asking them to waive coverage or enroll.
Important note: students studying abroad still need to complete the waiver or enrollment process.

Dear Wake Forest Parents:
We hope your student is getting excited about the start of the 2013-14 academic year. As you may know, all Wake Forest students are required to have health insurance. We have not received your student’s insurance decision to either waive or enroll in the Wake Forest Student Insurance Program (SIP) and wanted to bring this to your attention so you can take appropriate action. Your student(s) will be automatically enrolled in the Student Blue insurance plan offered by Wake Forest if s/he does not complete a waiver by Monday, August 19, 2013. NOTE: If your student is studying abroad this fall, you still must complete a waiver (or enroll in Student Blue) so we can be sure your student is covered during his/her time abroad
INTEND TO WAIVE? Visit www.bcbsnc.com/wfu.
INTEND TO ENROLL? Then please enroll at this time at www.bcbsnc.com/wfu and be sure to pay the appropriate premium on DEAC (Deacon Electronic Account Center), so you can ensure your student will not have a hold on his/her account. Merely paying the student bill with the insurance charge DOES NOT automatically activate SIP coverage; you must complete the online form. ID cards will be delivered via US postal service 7-10 days following enrollment. Failure to enroll online will delay coverage activation and receipt of ID cards until after the August 19 deadline.
AUGUST 19 DEADLINE: Students who do not enter an insurance decision by August 19, 2013 will be automatically enrolled in the Wake Forest SIP for the entire 2013/2014 Academic Year. The insurance charge will remain on your student account and you will receive your insurance ID card after August 19, 2013. If you do not enter your decision and are automatically enrolled, you will be unable to waive for Fall 2013.
The Student Insurance Plan (SIP) is administered by BCBS of North Carolina. A full plan detail, rates, a schedule of benefits, dependent enrollment information and more information is available at www.bcbsnc.com/wfu. The University also provides a very informative site about the plan at wfu.edu/sip/.
Should you have questions or comments, please contact the Student Insurance Office at studentinsurance@wfu.edu or 336.758.4247.
