Spring Housing Information for students Studying Abroad
Residence Life and Housing provided the following information for parents of students studying abroad during Fall 2013.
————————
Does my student studying abroad have to live on campus in the Spring?
Wake Forest University has a three year residency requirement. This requirement exists to foster a holistic collegiate education on a vibrant campus. Any student under the residency requirement or senior who indicated in April that they would be living on-campus will live on-campus in the Spring semester.
Is there space on-campus for my student?
Yes! There will be the Student Apartments which have been offline for renovations this Fall and spaces in all of our upperclass buildings which become vacant for a variety of reasons (students leaving to study abroad, transferring, graduating, etc)
How will my student select housing for the Spring semester?
One of three ways:
- Room selection for Spring will take place the week of December 16th. Emails with log on times and priority numbers will go out at the end of November. (Priority numbers will be the same number students received in April).
- Students who know of a student on the Reynolda campus with a vacancy in their room for the Spring semester can request to be “pulled-in” to the space using the Spring Room Change Request Form http://rlh.wfu.edu/room-change-2/
- Students planning to live in Theme housing or Greek Block housing need to notify the Program Assistant or the Housing Manager during October.
When will my student select a meal plan?
Students will select meal plans at the same time they select housing. Visit our website for meal plan rates and options. http://rlh.wfu.edu/current-students/you-choose/rates-terms/
What if my student has a medical condition or disability in which an accommodation would be helpful?
If that accommodation has previously been recommended by Student Health Services, then your student will be contacted by Kristy Eanes, the Assignments Coordinator to determine their Spring housing assignment. If an accommodation has not been recommended previously, you can view the process and documentation requirements at http://rlh.wfu.edu/current-students/you-choose/processes/special-needs/ Accommodation requests should be submitted before November to allow sufficient time for the request to be evaluated.
If your student does not plan to return to the university, please let us know as soon as possible. (ie staying abroad, withdrawing or transferring).
