Special information on NC Primaries and Student Voting
The North Carolina Primaries will take place on March 5, 2024, with One-Stop Early Voting occurring from Thursday, Feb. 15-Saturday, March 2. During this election, voters choose which candidates should be the party nominees to appear on the general election ballot.
Voters can cast their ballot in one of 3 ways:
-
- One-Stop Early Voting in North Carolina allows voters to register and vote all at once at any early voting location in their county. The closest location for Wake Forest students is the Polo Park Community Center at 1850 Polo Road, Winston-Salem.
- Students interested in Voting In-Person on Election Day (March 5), will need to have already completed their voter registration. The deadline was Friday, February 9. If a student did not register to vote and is interested in casting their ballot in North Carolina, they’ll need to participate in One-Stop Early Voting.
- Students who are NC residents, and already registered to vote, have the option to vote absentee. The deadline to request an absentee ballot for NC residents is February 27 at 5:00 p.m. Request a NC Absentee Ballot.
Important Tips for Voters
-
- Don’t forget a photo ID: North Carolina voters will be asked to show photo ID when they check in to vote. If your student is not a North Carolina resident, their DeaconOne Card will be accepted.
- Students can find their designated polling location on their Voter Registration Card or online through the Forsyth County Board of Elections.
- If you will be voting on Election Day, please be mindful that the Reynolda Campus is divided into two districts; please check your assigned polling location to vote in person at the correct site on Election Day.
