Second Wake Alert: Another student assaulted on campus today
This is a Wake Alert message:
The University Police Department is investigating a second report of a student being punched today (April 30) by an unidentified assailant.
The student was punched once in the face and knocked to the ground by a man accompanied by a group of men and women at approximately 3 to 3:15 a.m. today. He called University Police at 4:47 a.m. to report the incident.
The student declined medical treatment. Injury appeared minor.
The student told University Police that he was walking onto campus from the Polo Road entrance when he encountered a group of people walking onto campus, too. The University Police Department is investigating both incidents today. The department is taking several immediate steps to respond, including increasing police patrols of the area.
Anyone with information that may assist in the investigation is asked to call 758-5911 or 758-5911. Or, they may use University Police’s online Silent Witness system to report information anonymously.
