Residence Halls opening Friday, January 11 @ 9 a.m.

The following message was emailed to students from Residence Life and Housing

Good Evening –

I hope this message finds you well and that you are enjoying the last days of Winter Break!

As you may have seen, the Winston-Salem area is expected to experience some inclement weather, with the potential for wintry mix and/or snow, this weekend. Additionally, the same weather system is anticipated to impact much of the eastern coast.

Based on this forecast, we are opening early to allow students to adjust their travel plans. Residence halls will now open at 9 a.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019. Meanwhile, students wanting to follow news about Winston-Salem weather may want to visit WXIIWGHPWFMY and Spectrum News 14 websites. Detailed information is also available through Wake Forest’s WeatherSTEM weather stations on campus and at BB&T Field.

Students returning to their fall housing do not need to check in and may return to campus beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, January 11 and throughout the weekend. Students checking into housing for the spring semester must check in to pick up their keys. Check-in will be available as follows:

  • Friday, January 11 – Between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the Office of Residence Life and Housing (located in the lower level of Angelou Residence Hall)
  • Saturday, January 12 – Between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in residential communities
  • Sunday, January 13 – Between noon and 5 p.m. in residential communities

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact us at or 336-758-5185. Safe travels as you return to campus!

Best –

Zach Blackmon, PhD, MBA

If Your Student Has a Problem

One of the best ways parents/families can help their students is to let them solve their own problems. Use the Stop, Drop, and Roll method when your student contacts you with a problem.  The flyer also lists contact information for serious concerns where family intervention might be appropriate.
