Registration Information for Lower-Division Students (i.e. who have not declared their major)

The following information was emailed to lower-division students (students who have not yet declared a major).  Students who have declared a major will work with their major adviser to be advised and obtain their PIN.

Dear Students,

This email is meant to serve as both a reminder and provide you with pertinent information regarding the upcoming Fall 2015 registration period.

1)      Registration directions, how-to’s, and FAQs can all be found at  http://registrar.wfu.edu/registration/

2)      Important Dates:

  1. Major/Minor Registration – March 16-27th
  2. Round 1 – March 30th– April 5th (11:59pm)
  3. Round 2 – April 6th – June 7th (11:59pm)
  4. WFU Summer School Registration – March 16th-May 30th (11:59pm)

3)      Registration Start Time and PIN

  1. To find your registration start times: log in to WIN>Virtual Campus>Check Holds and Registration Status
  2. You will find three start times posted here. The first is your Round 1 start time, the second your Round 2 start time, and the third shows when you will have access to web registration again after the summer down time (WIN registration will be closed for continuing students from June 8th– August 16th for in-coming student registration purposes)
  3. Your academic adviser will have access to your PIN via their WIN account. You must be advised before you can be given your PIN and the PIN is only necessary for initial entry into WIN registration (i.e. for Round 1; you won’t need to re-enter your PIN after initial entry)

4)      University Registrar Office after hours-help during Rounds

  1. The Office of University Registrar will be closed after 5pm, but staff will be available from 5-9pm Monday-Thursday via Google Mail and Google Hangouts (rounds@wfu.edu)

Here are two additional pieces of information from the Office of Academic Advising:

From the English department regarding Division II core literature courses:

Lower division advisers should know that all 100-level English classes that count for the Division II requirement (Eng150, Eng165, Eng175, Eng185, Eng190) are designed to have equivalent levels of difficulty. All 100-level core courses require roughly 20 pages of formal writing, and have similar reading loads. In past semesters, sections of Eng150 have filled, with wait lists, long before the sections of Eng175, 185 and 190 have reached capacity. Please remind your students that Eng185 and Eng190 are NOT more difficult than Eng150 and Eng165. Also, please tell students planning to major in English that they should enroll in a 200-level gateway course (rather than a 100-level core course), and that ALL students are welcome to fulfill the divisional requirement with any one of our 300-level English courses.

In sum, students seeking to fulfill the Division II requirement should be encouraged to distribute themselves equally across the 100-level options, not limiting themselves to Eng150. About study abroad at the Flow House in Spring 2016:

Applications are being accepted to study Psychology and more at the Vienna Flow House, Spring 2016.

No prior German experience is necessary, but students will be required to take GER 113, 153, or 214 while abroad.  Also required is HMN 190 (Contemporary Viennese Experience, 1.5 credit hours).

Additional classes that will be offered include two courses in psychology and two courses that can fulfill divisionals in the Humanities and Fine Arts:

PSY 241 (Developmental Psychology)

PSY 315 (Special Topics in Psychology: Bridging Fact with Fiction)

HST 120 (Formation of Europe: Habsburg Empire and its Successor States)

MUS 219 (Music in Vienna)
