Dear Fall 21 study abroad students on Affiliate (non-WFU) programs,

Please read this email as it contains important updated information about the testing requirement for return to the U.S:

New Testing Requirements for Re-Entry into the US
Today (2 December 2021) the White House confirmed that the United States will be strengthening its pre-departure testing protocols to respond to the Omicron COVID-19 variant. From early next week (starting on 6 December – exact date to be confirmed), all international arrivals by air will be required to present a negative pre-departure COVID-19 test, taken within one day (24 hours) of departure to the US, regardless of nationality or vaccination status. These pre-departure tests for the US can be at-home/remote, providing they are done via a telehealth service affiliated with the test manufacturer (i.e. video-observed) or administered in-person by a health professional. Lateral flow (antigen) and PCR tests are both accepted. As indicated in the previous email, please plan to have your tests taken within the 24-hour time frame before your departure. If possible, you should pre-schedule your tests now.  For students returning to countries other than the US, you should continue to check with that country’s consulate for any testing requirements and necessary timelines. On-site staff at your various Affiliate institutions are available to provide assistance if needed.

All the best,

Dean Taylor
