The following message was sent to parents and families of undergraduates

Dear parents and families,

This morning, an email went out to students, faculty, and staff to alert them of an incident where shots were fired at an off-campus location. Police are investigating the incident; see the message that went to campus (below).

Our Family Communications Philosophy specifies that parents and families will be notified of incidents involving weapons, which is why you are receiving this message.

I have no additional details beyond what is in the message below. However, I can assure you that Wake Forest, University Police, and Winston-Salem police are taking this very seriously and are investigating. There is no greater priority than the safety of our students and the campus community.

If there are any future messages about this incident, those would be posted on our Family News site and linked from the Daily Deac blog.

With best wishes,

Betsy Chapman, Ph.D. (’92, MA ’94)
Executive Director of Family Communications
