Rusty and Kathy Newton (P ’09, ’11), chairs of the Wake Forest Parents’ Council, reflected on today’s announcement that Provost Jill Tiefenthaler will be leaving Wake Forest at the end of June to assume the presidency of Colorado College:

“Provost Tiefenthaler has been an extraordinary asset to Wake Forest.  She is a gifted administrator and a champion of the intellectual endeavors of our faculty and students.  One would be hard pressed to find someone as passionate about developing young minds and who is as ardent a supporter of the academic pursuits of the faculty as Jill.

Jill leaves an indelible mark on Wake Forest’s campus.  She was instrumental in bringing to reality the vision set forth in the University’s strategic plan.  She charted a new course for Wake Forest with the historic decision to go SAT-optional.  And she has partnered with students and administrators alike to create a newfound vibrancy on campus.  Our students are the beneficiaries of all her devoted work.

On behalf of the Parents’ Council, we wish Jill all the best as she assumes the presidency of Colorado College and thank her for her lasting contributions to Wake Forest.  She will always be a Demon Deacon in our hearts and the many friendships she formed with Wake Foresters will be lasting.”
