Panhellenic Recruitment 2022 Update: PLEASE READ
This information was sent on 12/11 to Potential New Members (i.e., women signed up for sorority recruitment) with updates with Panhellenic Recruitment.
Good Afternoon All,
As you all have previously seen, the institution has now required that all students receive their COVID-19 Booster Shot by January 7th, 2022. This mandate is intended to help keep the campus community safe as individuals return to campus following the semester break and as uncertainties about the Omicron variant remain. Students returning to campus early for Panhellenic recruitment, Athletics, Resident Advisor duties, the marching band, etc. are considered to be participating in University-sponsored activities that need additional considerations. Please note the following:
- Based on guidance from the University’s public health experts, the University has decided that in order for recruitment to occur in-person on January 9th, we will need 85% of recruitment participants (both active and potential members) to be in compliance with the vaccination/booster policy. We will have to make this decision based on booster verifications submitted by 5pm on January 6. If we fail to meet this threshold, Round 3 of recruitment will be held virtually. Please get your booster and submit your documentation early so that we can hold Round 3 in person.
- If you received an exemption for the COVID-19 vaccine or are not eligible for a booster based on the date when you became fully vaccinated, you will need to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 48 hours of the start of in-person recruitment
- If we reach the 85% threshold to hold Round 3 in-person, anyone who has NOT submitted their booster verification will also need to submit a negative test within 48 hours of the start of recruitment. Failure to submit a negative test will result in that student only being allowed to participate virtually in recruitment.
- Negative test results must be verified in-person by staff from 8-10am on Sunday, January 9. We will email details to those this will pertain to in early January.
- The Panhellenic Council’s booster incentive program will remain intact. We are encouraging all members to receive and submit their Booster Shot by December 24th, 2021.
Please share this information with your friends or anyone you know who is going through Panhellenic Recruitment. If you have any questions about how this mandate will impact the Panhellenic Recruitment process, please feel free to reach out to Betsy Adams (adamseh@wfu.edu) or your GRC. We will ensure these questions are answered through the break and during our second webinar on January 3rd. If you or someone in your family would like to provide feedback about this new requirement, please direct your questions or share your thoughts via the Our Way Forward website. Our office cannot thank you all enough for your flexibility around navigating COVID-19 with Panhellenic Recruitment and appreciate your support in keeping our community safe in the coming months.
Have a wonderful weekend and safe travels home.
Sincerely,
Betsy Adams & Shane Taylor
