Dear Wake Forest Students, Faculty and Staff,

I am saddened to inform you that Ozioma (Ozi) Obi-Onuoha, a first-year law student from Raleigh, N.C., has died.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to their family, fellow law students, faculty and staff who knew them. Ozi was a 2016 graduate of Princeton, where they were a social justice advocate and played on the women’s rugby team. At Wake Forest, they were a member of the Black Law Student Association.

Ozi’s passing is a loss for our community, and we will share information on services when details become available. May their family and friends find comfort and support as they grieve their loss and remember their life.

Each of us is affected by loss in different ways, and there is no right way to grieve. I encourage you to take care of yourselves and your fellow Deacs during this sad time.
