The following message was sent out to the campus community on Wednesday afternoon.

————–

On April 5, the University alerted students, faculty and staff to reports of three robberies occurring on campus over a span of six weeks. University Police investigators continue to work closely with the Winston-Salem Police Department to resolve these cases.

During the investigation, police obtained a search warrant for the residence and vehicle of a Wake Forest student believed to have a registered weapon on campus, which violates state law and University policy. During a search on April 7, police recovered a handgun and ammunition belonging to a student and paintball guns belonging to another student. Both students were arrested for possession of weapons on campus. Police do not believe these individuals are connected to the earlier robberies.

While the investigation continues, University Police are operating the entrance gatehouses on University Parkway and Reynolda Road from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. The Polo Road entrance will be closed during those hours. Police have also increased security in the southern area of campus and are evaluating additional measures.

The University Police Department encourages anyone with information about these incidents to call them at 336.758.5911 or contact them through the anonymous “Silent Witness” program at police.wfu.edu/services/witness.
