Campus Life and Residence Life and Housing are announcing a mentoring program for first year male students.  If this might be of interest to your son, please see the detailed information below on how to contact the program facilitators.

————-

For some of our first-year male students, the social transition to college and Wake Forest in particular can be a bit challenging and difficult. Some first-year men have a hard time finding their niche in the larger campus culture and community.

First-Year in Focus is a personal development program which connects a first-year male student with an upperclass male mentor for the first year of college. This one-to-one relationship opens doors for new friendships, helps a student successfully navigate the ins and outs of college life, and provides personal and academic support.

First Year in Focus is coordinated by Mike Ford, Associate Dean for Campus Life, and Matt Clifford, Director of Residence Life and Housing. First year students are referred to Mike and Matt who, in turn, meet with the individual to determine the student’s readiness and interest to have a mentor. The first year male student is matched with an upperclass mentor who shares common interests and experiences. Mentor training and supervision is provided to the upperclass mentors.

If you know of a first-year student who might benefit from this one-to-one mentoring relationship or would like more information, please be in contact with Mike Ford (fordmg@wfu.edu) or Matt Clifford (cliffomw@wfu.edu).
