For students selected for asymptomatic testing in a given week, this is the message they receive

Bottom Line Up Front:

  • You have been selected for mandatory COVID-19 testing as part of Wake Forest University’s testing program. Details are available on the Our Way Forward website.
  • The test is required and will be administered on campus at no cost to you.
  • Please schedule your test as soon as possible through the BioReference portal.

Testing Program

  • To mitigate the spread of COVID-19, Wake Forest will randomly test hundreds of asymptomatic students each week.
  • Wake Forest has partnered with BioReference Laboratories to administer these tests.
  • Scheduling your test with BioReference will take about five minutes, and administering the test on your scheduled day will take about 15 minutes.

Getting Your Test

  • Where: Parking for students getting tested is available in Parking Lot X (see map), located at the corner of Wake Forest Road and Carroll Weathers Drive and across the street from the Worrell Professional Center. Testing will take place in the former Museum of Anthropology (No. 29 on the campus map).
  • How: BioReference will use a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test utilizing anterior nares (nasal swab) collection. The swab is taken from the front of the nostril only and has been described as the least invasive of the different types of nasal swabs.

Exemptions

  • Exemptions are limited to students experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, students that are in quarantine or isolation for COVID-19, students with documented acute medical conditions, and students that do not reside within a 45-mile radius of the Wake Forest University Reynolda Campus. No other exceptions will be made.
    • If you are currently experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or have other medical concerns, see this page for information about next steps.
    • You must submit your request for an exemption via this form.
    • You are required to get tested when notified, even if you have been tested recently or have had a prior positive COVID test result. Those failing to comply will be subject to sanctions through the Student Code of Conduct process, including removal from on-campus housing, and/or suspension or expulsion.
