LENS @ Wake Forest wanted to alert families with high school aged children to the following summer opportunity.

——————-

Do you have a high school student seeking a fun, challenging, and unique experience for this summer?  LENS @ Wake Forest is a three-week program that equips students with an academic foundation necessary to become global citizens. The 2013 theme is Sustainability: Operate locally and extend globally.  Program dates are July 13 – August 1, 2013.  Rising high school juniors and seniors are eligible to apply now.  Applications are received on a rolling basis until the program is filled (32-36 student capacity).

LENS provides students an interdisciplinary and experiential learning environment characteristic of the liberal arts education… without the pressure of grades/credit.  Students will delve into scientific concepts about sustainability issues in the Experiential Classroom, explore local businesses and organizations incorporating principles of sustainability by participating in Living Labs, and develop new communication skills during the Writing Seminar. The LENS experience culminates in the Service Learning Projects – students work in small groups to partner with a community agency, research a sustainability-related need, and propose a solution.  And of course, the program offers an introduction to the social life and residential community of Wake Forest!

Don’t wait to apply for LENS @ Wake Forest!
