The following message was sent to students from Adam Goldstein, Dean of Students.

Dear Members of the Wake Forest Community,

As a follow-up to the message from Provost Kersh on Friday, I’d like to personally invite you to join the Student Government, Office of the Dean of Students, Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Office of the Chaplain to a candlelight vigil to light the darkness created by the hatred and violence in Charlottesville. This event is intended to help our campus community make meaning of these events, reflect upon this important time of awakening for our country, here at Wake Forest, and within ourselves. Information will be provided about ways all community members can get involved.

By standing in solidarity with communities targeted by white supremacy, our community can declare where we stand: For Humanity.  The vigil will take place tomorrow night, Monday, August 28, at 8:00 p.m. on Manchester Plaza.

Vigil Speakers:

José Villalba, Interim Chief Diversity Officer

Spencer Schiller, Senior, Student Government President

Nia McIntosh, Senior, Student Leader

Tim Auman, University Chaplain

Jonathan McElderry, Assistant Dean of Students and Director of the Intercultural Center

Sincerely,

Adam
