Important Update: 2025 Tax Year 1098-T Forms Now Available
From Student Financial Services:
We are writing to share that your 1098-T Tuition Statement for the 2025 tax year is now available to view and download through the Workday portal. As we enter the tax filing season, we want to ensure you and your family have the documents you need for your records.
What is the 1098-T?
The 1098-T is an informational tax form furnished by WFU that can be submitted to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). It is used to determine if you are eligible for federal education tax credits, such as the American Opportunity Tax Credit (AOTC) or the Lifetime Learning Credit (LLC).
The form includes:
- Qualified Tuition and Related Expenses (QTRE): This includes tuition and mandatory fees required for enrollment.
- Scholarships and Grants: Any gift aid processed through the University during the 2025 calendar year.
Note: Per IRS guidelines, the 1098-T does not include charges for housing, meal plans, or health insurance fees, as these are not considered “qualified” expenses for tax credit purposes.
How to Access Your Form
Because of privacy laws (FERPA), this form is only available to students. While your student may have granted Third-Party Access for billing, tax forms must be accessed through your student’s Workday account.
To download a copy of this form, please follow these steps:
- Log into Workday.
- From your Home Dashboard, select the Student Financials app.
- Under the Tasks section, select View My 1098-T.
- Choose the 2025 calendar year and click OK.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Print 1098-T button to generate a PDF.
