The following message was sent to resident students who have an application in to study abroad this fall.

Good Morning –

You are receiving this message because we have been notified by Global Programs and Studies (GPS) that you have an active application for the Fall 2022 Study Abroad/Away.

You have been coded as Study Abroad from a housing perspective for the Fall 2022 semester. This means that you will not select housing this semester and cannot enter the off-campus lottery for the 2022-23 Academic Year at this time. If you have previously entered the lottery, your entry has been cleared, and regardless of housing status, you’ve been removed from any roommate groups while classified as study abroad.

As a reminder students who participate in study abroad/away are still subject to the residency requirement, with their semester abroad counting towards the six-semester requirement. Students with less than six semesters of housing credit should not make any plans to live off-campus unless they have been released in writing from the residency requirement by the Office of Residence Life and Housing.

Please visit go.wfu.edu/housingportal to review important information and acknowledge the housing implications associated with a fall semester abroad. We ask that you complete this task by March 1, 2022.

Should you wish to change your abroad/away status for Fall 2022, please email studyabroad@wfu.edu to notify Global Programs and Studies (GPS) of your change in plans. GPS will remove your abroad/away application and will then notify Residence Life and Housing who will update your housing status accordingly.

Keep in mind that in order to participate in housing selection beginning March 21, Residence Life and Housing must receive notification from GPS of your status change by Wednesday, March 16.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact our offices.

Best –

Zach Blackmon, Ph.D., MBA
Associate Director of Operations
