Plan Ahead

Plan to meet with your academic adviser after spring break to discuss your Fall 2022 course schedule and obtain your PIN. Use the Plan Ahead tool in the Registration Portal to craft potential schedules and scenarios with different courses. When your registration time ticket opens, you can load courses directly from your desired plan. More detailed instructions on creating registration plans can be found here.

You must be advised by your adviser to obtain your registration PIN. Without your PIN, you will be unable to register for Fall 2022 courses. The Office of the University Registrar cannot provide you with your PIN and the Office of Academic Advising will not release your PIN without the permission of your adviser.

Subject Code Changes

In the upcoming 2022-2023 Bulletin, several departments will have different subject codes.  Please be aware that as you search and register for these courses, the subject codes and descriptions may appear differently than in the current Bulletin.

  • INS (International  Studies) is now CGS (Contemporary Global Studies).  Courses found under INS can now be found under CGS with the same course numbers.
  • MST (Mathematics) is now MTH (Mathematics).  Courses found under MST can now be found under MTH with the same course numbers.
  • MUS (Music) is now MSC (Music).  Courses found under MUS can now be found under MSC, though course numbers may have changed.

Time Tickets

Registration time tickets are assigned based on credit hours completed through the first part-of-term of Spring 2022, excluding any Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) credit. You can view your registration time ticket in the Registration Portal > Prepare for Registration > Select Fall 2022. Check your student status and holds to ensure that they display checkmarks. If you have any holds, make sure to resolve them with the office that placed your hold prior to registration. Please note that your time ticket will display an exclamation mark until it is your time to register.

You will be permitted to register for up to 15 total hours when your Phase I time ticket opens. These 15 hours include courses for which you registered during major/minor registration. You can access registration at – or any time after – your start time that is most convenient.

Waitlists

If a course is closed and a seat on the waitlist is available, you will be able to add yourself to the waitlist (see “Join a Waitlist”). If a seat in the course becomes available, you will receive a waitlist notification in your WFU email account. Please make sure you are checking your WFU email regularly during the registration period and over the summer, as you will have 48 hours from the time of notification to register for the open seat. If you fail to act within the 48-hour window, the open seat will go to the next student on the waitlist.

Overload/Exceed 17 Hours Requests

Beginning Monday, April 11, you may seek permission to exceed 17 hours by following the steps outlined by the Office of Academic Advising.

Next Steps

If you have questions about the advising process, please contact your adviser, your academic department, or the Office of Academic Advising (336.758.3320; undergraduateadvising@wfu.edu).
