H.S. “Pete” Moore
We are saddened to inform you that H.S. “Pete” Moore, retired director of the physical plant, died November 5 at his Winston-Salem home on Royall Drive, adjacent to the University.
We grieve Mr. Moore’s death and extend our condolences to his family and friends, as well as those at Wake Forest who had the opportunity to know him.
Mr. Moore’s family is planning a memorial service that will be held at a later date on campus. The family expects to place an obituary in the Winston-Salem Journal soon.
Mr. Moore joined Wake Forest in 1953 as superintendent of buildings and grounds and remained at the University until his retirement in 1991 as director of the physical plant. He was extensively involved in the construction of the Reynolda Campus before the University made its move from the town of Wake Forest. The H.S. Moore Building on campus is named in his honor. The building provides offices for Facilities and Campus Services, in addition to University Police.
