Grant Madison Backerman
Dear Wake Forest Students, Faculty and Staff,
I am saddened to inform you that Grant Madison Backerman, a senior from Concord, Mass., passed away unexpectedly today at his off-campus residence in Winston-Salem.
We extend our condolences to his family and fellow students, as well as faculty and staff who knew him. His passing is a loss for the entire Wake Forest community. May Grant’s family and friends find comfort and support as they grieve his loss and remember his life.
Grant was a chemistry and physics major.
The University will share information on services for Grant when that information is available.
Each of us is affected by loss in different ways, and there is no right way to grieve. I encourage you to take care of yourselves and your fellow Deacs during this difficult time. Wake Forest offers support and counseling services for all students, faculty and staff. Please visit the Counseling Center web site for helpful guidance.
Professional staff from the University Counseling Center and Chaplain’s Office will be available to meet with students in the Green Room of Reynolda Hall, main level, at 8 p.m. tonight. The staff will be available also between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday to meet with students in Benson University Center, Room 410.
