Mercy Eyadiel, Executive Director, Employer Relations, has shared the following information with the Parent Programs office on fall on-campus recruiting at Wake Forest.

82 unique organizations participated in fall on-campus recruiting across all programs (undergraduate and graduate), featuring 10 new organizations — Barclay’s Capital, CBRE, Cigna, Co-Star Group, Fannie Mae, Goldman Sachs, iGate Technologies,  Regions Bank, Sotheby’s Institute of Art, and Wilderness Ventures.  The primary focus for fall recruiting is on full-time hiring opportunities.

Overall top employers for Fall 2012 were: Abercrombie, BB&T, Bank of America, CIA, Deloitte, DISH Network, Ernst & Young, General Electric, Inmar, KPMG, PepsiCo, PWC, Red Ventures, Teach for America, and Wells Fargo.  The top industries represented were: Accounting / Finance, Consulting, Education, Technology, and Nonprofit/Government.  The top hiring functions were: Analyst, Accounting / Finance, Consulting, and Teaching / Education.

Plans are underway for winter/spring 2013 recruiting.  The recruiting season begins with a Spring Career Fair on January 23 from noon to 4pm.  The fair provides employers with an opportunity to meet and share information about their organizations with students who are bright, motivated and capable of exceptional contributions in their fields of interest.  Please contact Dana Hutchens for more information at: hutchens@wfu.edu or 336-758-5246.

NACE Job Outlook Report 2013

According to NACE Job Outlook Survey 2013,  nearly 250 employers indicated that they plan to hire 13 percent more new college graduates in 2012-13 than they did in 2011-12.

Top Recruiting Methods:

Nearly 60 percent of respondents plan to increase their use of technology in general when they recruit Class of 2013 graduates and close to 60 percent plan specifically to use social networks more often as college recruiting tools.

40 percent of respondents plan to attend more career fairs and slightly more than 20 percent plan to do more traveling.

Other changes in recruiting methods include connecting with student organizations and faculty, conducting information sessions, visiting new schools or more schools, improving their relationships with their existing schools, and taking a more targeted approach to their programs.

Fall (Full-time) vs. Spring (Internship) Recruiting

As the job market improves, employers report that 65% of their recruiting will occur in the Fall and 32% in the Spring

57% report preference for internship/co-op experience

74% prefer to hire candidates with relevant work experience
