Last Thursday, the Wake Forest Ethics Debate Team competed in the National Finals of the Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl, in Cincinnati, Ohio.  This annual competition is sponsored by the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (APPE).  There were 32 teams at this competition, including teams from; Dartmouth, Georgetown, USC, Florida, Michigan, and Villanova.

The team from Wake Forest was one of only six teams to win its first three rounds and made it to the Quarter-Finals.  Wake Forest won the Quarter-Finals and was defeated in the Semi-Finals, by one point, by Whitworth University, from Spokane, Wa., who went on to defeat Clemson for the National Championship.

Charles Lankau, Professor of Practice in the Schools of Business and self-professed proud coach, said this of the team: “You all would have been so proud to see our students perform so well amid such intense competition!  They were well-organized and focused.  They demonstrated deliberative thoughtfulness and poise.  Best of all, they showed great sportsmanship and integrity.”
