The following email was sent to all first-year students on October 29th by the Office of Academic Advising.

—————

Dear First-Year Students:

PLEASE mark this email to read in its entirety when you have the time to do so!  It contains an array of important info for all first-year students (including several attachments).  Don’t miss out because you didn’t read …

1) Sign up NOW for Required Wellbeing Check-Ins:  See http://newstudents.wfu.edu/orientation-programming/first-semester-checkins/ and Wellbeing_check-in_registration_info writers_camp.

2) Registration Assistance:  See flyer for times OAA staff will be in south campus residence halls during registration: Assisted Registration_Fall_2015.  See http://registrar.wfu.edu/registration-2/registration-after-hours/ for after-hours help from the Registrar’s Office.

3) Advising Information for Students Potentially Interested in Education or Music as a Major
:  The Education & Music departments recently asked us to share some info with interested students.  Education:  See attachment here: Department of Education – Course Offerings! Music: Because music theory is a four-semester sequence (and all four courses must be taken in sequence), it is important that potential music majors get started in music theory early in their student careers.

4) Linked WRI 111-ANT 114 class: See this flyer describing a Linked Course available to first-year students: linkedcoursesflyer_fall_2015.  Students who request registration in the linked course before November 3 will be able to register for an additional 8 hours in Round I of registration.  Send request toundergraduateadvising@wfu.edu.

5) SPA 309 for Heritage Spanish Speakers:  See flyer here: Heritage_Speaker_of_Spanish_SPA 309 (Spring 2016) & message below from Professor Alarcon.

(Professor Alarcon: alarcoi@wfu.edu)

6) Writer’s Camp!  Be a published author!  See http://zsr.wfu.edu/outreach/zsr-writers-camp/.  Apply by Nov. 13!writers_camp

7) Opportunity for Students Interested in Pre-Health or Pre-Allied-HealthTuesday November 3rd at 6:30 – Dinner and Healthcare Professional Panel (Sponsored by Pre-Allied Health and Pre-Health Professions Programs).RSVP to hpcpanel.eventbrite.com for dinner by Monday November 2nd 1 pm.
8) Opportunity in Barcelona next summer:  See flyer: Barcelona 2016!

Christy M. Buchanan, Ph.D.
