The following message was sent to students who selected Deacon Station in the housing selection process
Good Afternoon Folks –
I hope you are well, I wanted to write to share some updates on Deacon Station based on questions and concerns that have been relayed to our office.
Below are some updates from the Deacon Station team:
Due to an extremely high call volume during our busiest time of the year, we request that all questions beyond the below listed are sent to us via email at manager@deaconstation.com and we kindly request that you give us up to a 48-hour turnaround to have your question answered in the order in which they were received.
Q: I would like to inspect and view my apartment/room before move in. Can I do that?
A: Condition of the apartment will be inspected on move in day by the student with the condition checklist that will be given on move in day to return to us within 48 hours. This notifies us of any damages or maintenance items potentially missed in the room they’re renting, so they aren’t charged for them when they move out on 7/23/21 and so we can then repair within a timely manner any maintenance items we may have overlooked due to the volume of move in’s in such a short time.
Q: Does my payment have to be certified funds or can we pay online?
A: Payments of monthly installments need to be paid to our leasing office and the first payment must be in certified funds (cashier’s check or money order). Payments are to be made out to Deacon’s Station with their first and last name printed on the memo line. For your initial payment, you will need to send it to us by mail/FedEx/UPS (we suggest with tracking) or bring certified funds (no cash will be accepted) with you on your move in day.
Q: With this reservation being done through Wake Forest University, why am I being required to get renter’s insurance as this is a higher incurred cost on our part?
A: In light of COVID-19, Wake Forest University was able to reserve 128 bedrooms at a special rate of $670 per room. All liability, lease agreements, payments are to be done through the leasing office of Deacon’s Station. Signing a lease with Deacon’s Station means that should Wake Forest University terminate classes for any reason and evacuate the dormitories, you are still financially responsible for your lease agreement through the end of the last month’s installment.
Q: Why has my address changed from where I was being assigned?
A: Address changes were made to accommodate various requests. The lease agreements sent to students will have the new address listed and an email will be sent in the beginning of August confirming their address as stated on the lease agreement and list out the roommates requested though their housing portal.
Q: What does the relocation clause mean?
A: The relocation clause in lease agreement is in the event of an emergency and gives us the legal permission for operating efficiency should we need to relocate you to another apartment while you are occupying an apartment.
Q: How do I know if I have parking as requested?
A: In order to confirm you have parking, you must have your application for housing completed and your lease agreement with us signed. If you do not have parking, your lease will reflect an installment amount of $670. If you do have parking, your lease will reflect an installment amount of $695. Those who do not have completed applications and signed lease agreements by noon on 7/31/20 will forfeit their space to the next person on the parking request list.
Q: Will the shuttle be running and what is the schedule?
A: Our shuttle schedule will be operating beginning the first day of classes. We are working to finalize start and stops times and plan to have a copy for you on move in day that will also be shared on social media and via email. The Wake Line will make a stop at Deacon Station every 30 minutes from 8:00am to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday.
Q: What furniture is included and what is the bed size?
A: Bedrooms house a FULL XL mattress (queen sheets fit them), bed frame, desk, chair, and four dresser drawers. Common areas include a couch, love seat, TV, TV stand, kitchen table, two chairs and two bar stools.
Q: Do you suggest a renters insurance company and what are the limits? Wake Forest University is not responsible for your renters insurance.
A: The property is stick built with a brick front. You are required to have $100,000 liability insurance. Content insurance is not required but is suggested. We work with State Farm representative – Kristen G. Martin – kristen@kristengmartin.com 336-765-5751.
