One of the hot topics that parents should be ‘in the know’ about is Deacon Dollars vs. Food Dollars.  Several questions arose this weekend.  To clarify, food purchases at campus dining locations are not taxable to students if paid by Deacon Dollars, Food Dollars or Meal Plan.”  All other purchases on campus with Deacon Dollars (just like using cash, debit card or credit card) are subject to be taxed according to NC law.  The Student Financial Services website has additional information about Deacon Dollars and Food Dollars.
