The Winston-Salem Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred at 2:30 a.m. today at a University-owned house occupied by a Wake Forest graduate student.  Police took one suspect into custody immediately after the incident and are looking for a second individual.

The student was not harmed.  He called police from his locked bedroom when he heard the house’s doorbell ring and, soon afterward, the voices of two men who had entered the house.  The intruders never entered the locked room.

When police arrived, the student heard the men flee the house.  Police took one suspect into custody near the house, while another suspect ran across University Parkway.  Winston-Salem and Wake Forest police searched for the suspect, but did not find him.

The University is assisting the student today.

Anyone with information that may assist in the investigation may call the Winston-Salem Police Department at 336-733-7716 or Winston-Salem Crime Stoppers at 336-727-2800.  Information may also be reported to University Police at 336-758-5591 or through the University’s Silent Witness website.
