Local law enforcement officials are investigating two larcenies and two motor vehicle thefts and wants to make the Wake Forest community aware of the following reported crimes:

  • Theft: On Nov. 12, Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Security Services received a call reporting that a theft occurred on Nov. 11 at about 5:30 p.m. at the Cancer Center at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.
  • Theft: On Nov. 12 at about 2 p.m., police received a call reporting a theft at the Cancer Center at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist.
  • Motor Vehicle Theft: On Nov. 7, a golf cart was reported stolen from the David Couch Ballpark on Deacon Boulevard.
  • Motor Vehicle Theft: On Nov. 12, another golf cart was reported stolen from the David Couch Ballpark on Deacon Boulevard. UPD says video footage shows someone taking the cart at 6:50 a.m. The suspect was wearing a dark-colored shirt and pants with a white stripe down the side.

These incidents are unrelated, but the campus community is encouraged to take additional safety and security precautions, including:

  • Report suspicious persons or criminal activity by calling WFUPD at 336.758.5911 or submitting the Silent Witness Form
  • Download the Wake Safe app.
  • Visit the Wake Alert website to sign up for alerts and stay up-to-date on information during an emergency.
  • Familiarize yourself with the Emergency (blue light) phone locations around campus.
  • Keep your car doors and windows locked at all times.
  • Use locks on lockers and bicycles.
  • Register your personal property with the University Police to discourage theft.
  • Attend crime prevention programs.

University police and hospital security have increased patrols in these areas for added visibility and as a crime deterrent.

You can also view “Crime Stoppers of Winston-Salem Forsyth County” on Facebook. A Crime Stoppers Tip Form is also located online. Information provided to Crime Stoppers may be provided anonymously.

The University Police Department encourages students, faculty and staff to promptly report suspicious activity they may observe on and off campus. With immediate concerns, all are encouraged to call the emergency number.
