Update 12:02 p.m.: Winston-Salem Police shared the following update: “We can confirm there is no active shooter on the campus of Forsyth Tech. There is still an active investigation on the Forsyth Tech campus. There are no other threats to any other schools in the area. Anyone with info about this event should call 911 or the WSPD non-emergency number: 336-773-7700.”

At 10:10 a.m., Winston-Salem Police received a report of a shooting at the Strickland Center on the main campus of Forsyth Tech Community College, about six miles from Wake Forest’s Reynolda campus and five miles from Wake Downtown. Wake Forest Police have been staffing the entrances to the Reynolda Campus out of an abundance of caution, and remain in close contact with WSPD (@cityofwspolice). University Police has increased security on campus and at Wake Downtown.

Information will be shared as it becomes available and if it impacts members of the Wake Forest community.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to promptly report suspicious activity observed in areas on and around campus. If you have any information that might be helpful in this investigation, contact the University Police at 336-758-5591. If you wish to provide information anonymously, do so through “Silent Witness.”

If you feel uneasy or unsafe, go to a safe location and call a friend or the police at 911. University Police offers a safe escort service on campus that is available 24 hours at 336-758-5911.

Telephone Boxes are located near some building entrances. Pick up the receiver and dial 911 to reach a dispatcher.
