Clery Notice: Title IX Investigation by Wake Forest

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (the “Clery Act”), Wake Forest University issues timely notices to alert the campus community of Clery Act crimes or other serious incidents that the University determines represent a serious and ongoing threat to the campus.
Please be aware that the following message contains information about sexual violence. See the end of this message for resource information.
As communicated with the campus this morning, the University Police Department is investigating a sexual assault that took place between 6 a.m. and 6:20 a.m. today. The incident occurred at Kitchin Residence Hall near lot N. The student described the assailant as a male with dark skin between 30 and 40 years of age, approximately 6 feet tall, of average build, wearing dark jeans, dark blue or black zip-up hoodie, blue and gray running type shoes with dirty white laces, and a dark blue or black knit hat.
University Police are continuing to work with the Winston-Salem Police Department and other law enforcement resources to identify and interview anyone who was in the general area at that time or might have information that could lead to an arrest. The University also is providing resources to assist the individual involved in this incident and will continue to take actions to maintain the safety and security of the campus, including increased patrols and other measures leading up to commencement.

-If you feel uneasy, go to a safe location and call a friend or the police. When your safety is at risk or you need a safe escort on campus at any time, contact University Police at (336) 758-5911.
-If you notice a situation that seems unsafe for another person, intervene if it is safe to do so or call for support.
-Remember that the majority of sexual assaults are perpetrated by someone the survivor knows. Someone can feel that they are in a safe place with safe people and be sexually assaulted.
