Bed Bug Update (Dec. 20)
Donna McGalliard, Dean of Residence Life, sent the following email to a very small number of students yesterday regarding the possible presence of bed bugs in their rooms. If your student’s room was affected, he or she would have received an email Tuesday afternoon, December 21. The full text of Dean McGalliard’s email is below.

Dear Student,
We hope that your holiday break is going well thus far. We wanted to send you a brief message to inform you of the results of building inspections that were conducted this week. As you may be aware, evidence of bed bugs was found earlier this semester in several buildings on campus, which is why we have continued to routinely engage our pest management team to conduct canine re-inspections of the residence halls.
The canine inspection of your room indicates there may be evidence of bed bugs. We wanted to get this information to you today so that you can inspect the items you took home with you for winter break. These items could include clothing, bedding, backpacks, toiletries, and luggage. If you find evidence of bed bugs in your belongings, please reference the treatment information on our website and/or contact a local pest management company to assist you.
In an effort to treat as many of your items as possible, we will be conducting a high heat treatment in your room upon your return. This ensures that all of your personal items will be in the space when treatment occurs. More information on the day and time of this treatment and how you need to prepare will be provided when you return in January.
If you have additional questions, please feel free to email housing@wfu.edu. The Residence Life & Housing office will be closed Friday, December 24, 2010 until Tuesday, January 4, 2011.
Thank you.
