Announcement of Film to be Shot on Campus August 4
The following message was sent to the campus community from Communications and External Relations.
—————
Preparations are underway for Wake Forest to serve as a location for scenes to be filmed for an adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ novel The Longest ride.
On August 4, the company making the movie will spend approximately 12 hours on campus filming exterior and interior scenes. (Filming is also planned for the interior of the Coliseum on other dates.)
The filming will bring crewmembers, actors and extras to campus, along with numerous large trucks and other vehicles. Final details are now being settled on precisely what areas will be occupied by the company on August 4.
It is expected that the one-day film shoot will require closings or partial closings of certain parking lots, potentially a detour of traffic on one or more campus roads, and more temporary changes on campus.
Much of the filming will take on and near Hearn Plaza, which could bring limited changes to plaza access for part of the day. No closings of any buildings or businesses on Hearn Plaza are planned. Filming likely will occur, also, in one classroom building, but that location has not been finalized.
Later in July, additional information will be sent regarding the film shoot to students, faculty and staff.
