A Message from the Office of the Dean of Students
The following message is from the Office of the Dean of Students.
———————
Dear Greek Community Parents and Families,
Wake Forest University strives to work with students and parents to ensure a safe and healthy campus community. One aspect of the physical and emotional wellbeing of our students that Wake Forest’s Office of the Dean of Students is concentrating on is hazing prevention. One of the primary challenges regarding hazing prevention on college campuses is understanding and utilizing the resources on campus to combat hazing, and knowing how to connect with these resources.
This message is being shared with you to outline the resources available to you or your students should you have a concern about hazing or other aspects of the Greek experience. We hope this provides further clarity to help parents and families work with the Wake Forest community.
The Wake Forest University Counseling Center (UCC) (Confidential)
The University Counseling Center (UCC) is a place students can go for confidential counseling and consultation regarding any personal concern, including experiencing or witnessing hazing. However, due to confidentiality laws, anything shared by a client of the University Counseling Center cannot be shared with anyone else (unless there is concern about serious and imminent harm) without the client’s written permission.
The UCC is located in 118 Reynolda Hall and is open 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday for scheduled and emergency walk-in appointments, and can be reached at (336) 758-5273. After hours and weekend crisis response is available when school is in session by calling the Student Health Service at (336) 758-5218. UCC services are free to all full-time undergraduate, graduate, and professional students on the Reynolda Campus.
