The following message was sent to new students (Class of 2019) from the Office of Academic Advising.

—————

Dear New Deacs,

I hope you enjoyed a wonderful Homecoming weekend, despite the weather!

Please be aware of several important things happening THIS WEEK:

  • The last day to drop a class without grade penalty is TUESDAY, SEP. 29.  After Tuesday, you cannot drop a class without making an appeal to the Committee on Academic Affairs.  The Committee approves late drops only if there are extenuating circumstances (e.g., family emergencies, lengthy illnesses).  The Committee does not approve late drops solely because a student did not receive a grade until after the last day to drop.  If you are wondering about whether to drop a class because you are unsure about where you stand, now is the time to time to talk to your professor.  If you receive a less than satisfactory grade after the last day to drop, continue to attend class and seek out academic support (e.g., professor’s office hours, tutoring, Learning Assistance Center, Office of Academic Advising).
  • The Major/Minor Fair is WEDNESDAY, SEP. 30 – see http://events.wfu.edu/event/major_minor_fair_5136#.VgFdHN-6e00
  • Required Fall Orientation Check-Ins begin this week (seehttp://newstudents.wfu.edu/orientation-programming/first-semester-checkins/)
    • LIVING IN COMMUNITY – Contact your RA if you need information about when your Living in Community check-in is scheduled.
    • ACADEMIC SUCCESS – the first of these check-ins occurs onOctober 12, but in preparation you have a short reflection dueOct. 5.  You can complete this reflection at:  http://goo.gl/forms/AOPW1PcYGO.

Contact us in OAA with any questions!
