2 weeks until Pitsgiving!!!
One of the happiest days of the fall semester is Pitsgiving. Pitsgiving is our own version of Thanksgiving. It happens the Thursday before Thanksgiving – so 2 weeks from now.
Pitsgiving is a time for students to have a Thanksgiving meal with their closest friends (who are like family) – and then they go home a week later and have actual Thanksgiving with their real family. Students can get turkey, stuffing, mac and cheese, green beans, and all the traditional fixins, plus pumpkin pie and a to of other great desserts.
I don’t have the exact times yet, but in years past, we’ve had Pitsgiving for lunch (11 a.m.-3 p.m.) and/or dinner (4-8 p.m.).
Pitsgiving is pure joy. Students line up for Pitsgiving, strategize to get a table big enough for their friend group, some of them even bring tablecloths or decorations. There are countdowns to the door opening at the start of lunch or dinner. The Demon Deacon normally makes an appearance, and I have to believe President Rodriguez would be there too if he can.
Pitsgiving is a loud, crowded, abundant and joyous experience. For our P’30s who are new to the tradition, here are a few pictures to help you see what I’m talking about.

Students can make changes to their Spring Meal Plan
Students received an email yesterday about the window being open to make changes to their meal plan for the Spring 2027 semester. This is a process that students must do themselves (not parents or families), as their current meal plan selection can be viewed in the Housing Portal. (Students can see a step-by-step guide here).
Students have until January 6the to decrease their Spring 2027 meal plan. January 31 is the last day they can add or upgrade their Spring 2027 meal plan.
Particularly if you have a senior who has a meal plan, they will want to make sure their plan is the right size for their needs and that they understand when their meal swipes and food dollars expire if they go unused.
