In this Issue:

Today is Election Day, and the Office of Civic and Community Engagement has information and rides to the polls for students registered to vote in North Carolina:

“If you’re voting today, here’s what you need to know:

🚨Don’t forget: You must vote at your assigned precinct, bring your photo ID (DeaconOne cards work!), or request an ID Exception Form if needed.

🗳️ Polls are open from 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM. If you’re in line by 7:30 PM, you have the right to vote! Any issues? Call the NC Election Protection Hotline: 888-687-8683.

🚐 Need a ride? Free shuttles run from Benson University Circle to nearby voting locations from 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM. Voting late? Hop on the last shuttle by 7:00 PM.”

The OCCE has a comprehensive voting website where students registered in NC who are opting to vote today can learn more. There will also be a Deacs Decide watch party in Shorty’s in the Benson University Center starting at 7:30 p.m.

May all our Deacs do their civic duty and vote. Who they vote for is their business, but I hope they all vote!

Now onto today’s news…

Fall finals care package

My friends in Residence Life and Housing want to remind you to consider gifting your Deac a little TLC for final exams week:

“Fall Finals are approaching! Your student will be preparing for exams, final projects, and the busy days ahead. A little encouragement from home can make a big difference during this stressful time. Order their Fall Finals Care Package by November 7 and send them a thoughtful reminder that you’re cheering them on! Click here to learn more.”

Or take a page out of my late P’92 dad’s book and slide your Deac a $20 in a card, or Zelle them some $ for a pre-finals study break splurge, or simply write them a note telling them “you’ve got this!” Finals will be held Dec. 9-15.

Views of the fall leaves

A few days ago, I told you about my favorite stretch of road in Winston-Salem: Reynolda Road between the main entrance to campus, past Reynolda Village and Graylyn. If you want to experience this yourself, you can see it on this Instagram post from Graylyn. So, so pretty.

Athletic competitors but academic collaborators: Wake and UVA

While our game with UVA this past Saturday was a blowout, we are on much more equal footing when it comes to academic research. Our Social Media team tells the story of the collaborations between Wake faculty and UVA faculty: research and the building of knowledge for humanity. Discover what we’re doing together.

Inauguration photostory

I have a late addition to yesterday’s Daily Deac: a photostory covering all the inaugural events.
