What A Weekend!
In this Issue:
- Fraternity interest meeting tomorrow
- P’30 weekly message and reminder of ’30 pulse survey
- Halloween care packages
We are still riding the high from Family Weekend, and hope you are, too! It was a wonderful weekend: I saw a lot of happy families and students, and everyone enjoyed the absolute shellacking we gave Stanford at the football game. GO DEACS!
Since it is the first day back after a big weekend, just three quick hits today.
Fraternity interest meeting tomorrow
The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Engagement has asked to share the following on behalf of the Phi Gamma Delta Growth Team (i.e., Fiji fraternity):
“We’re hosting another Phi Gamma Delta Interest Session, giving you another
opportunity to get in the room, meet others who are interested, and learn what we’re
building on campus.
If you missed the first session – or you came and want to learn more – this is your
chance.
- Learn what’s next for Phi Gamma Delta
- Discover opportunities to lead, grow, and make an impact
- Connect with students who are ready to be part of something bigger
- See what membership can bring beyond the college experience
This isn’t just another information session. It’s another opportunity to see where you
could fit into what’s being built.
Date: Tuesday, October 6th
Time: 6 PM – 7 PM
Location: Benson Student Center 401
Your opportunity is still here!”
P’30 weekly message and reminder of ’30 pulse survey
This week’s message for P’30 families is about midterm exams, and the role you can play in contextualizing them for your first-year students. From my own time as a Wake student and from past experience as an academic advisor, first semester grades are often the worst, and as students get the hang of college (and move out of required classes and into their major), grades go up. Take the long view and understand students will get there 🙂
In last Thursday’s issue of the WFU Should Know student e-newsletter, we noted that on September 28, all ’30 students were emailed a brief, 11-question survey designed to provide insights into how first-year students are doing in The Forest. Please encourage your Class of 2030 Deacs to take the survey, which will be open until October 11.
Halloween care packages
Could your Deac use a boost? Consider a Halloween care package:
“Halloween is right around the corner! Surprise your student with a festive care package filled with snacks and goodies to brighten their day and send a little love from home. Order their Halloween Care Package by October 10. Click here to learn more.”
If you came for Family Weekend, hoping you had safe travels home. If you weren’t able to make it, hope to see you on campus another time.
