In this Issue: campus observations of the anniversary of 9/11

I am out of the office today, so this is a pre-post

Climb to Remember

Each year, the No Fear Battalion of ROTC cadets hosts the Climb to Remember in remembrance of the 2,977 victims of 9/11. Participants are invited to walk or run 2,977 stairs at Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium (our football stadium) in order to honor the victims.

All students, faculty, and staff are invited to join this year’s event tomorrow (Friday, Sept. 11). Gates will open and check-in will begin at 6 a.m., the Climb will begin at 6:30. participants should register here

I did the Climb last year for the first time and it was a really meaningful event. Hope our students will have a strong showing.

9/11 Moments of Remembrance

The Office of the Chaplain is hosting 9/11 Moments of Remembrance on Friday. They invite our campus community to pause and remember the events of September 11, 2001, and their enduring impact.

In partnership with University Carillonneur Anthony Tang, the carillon will toll at the following times:

  • 9:37 a.m. — Pentagon
  • 9:58 a.m. — South Tower collapse
  • 10:03 a.m. — United Flight 93
  • 10:28 a.m. — North Tower collapse

The Chaplain’s Office invites us to pause, remember, and reflect at each of these moments. At noon, the carillon will conclude the morning’s remembrance with a rendition of “America the Beautiful.”

Wishing everyone peace and comfort as we observe the 25th anniversary of 9/11.
