My ’27 has already headed back to college (they have marching band camp starting soon and needed to get settled). This morning, I bought tuition insurance for the upcoming year – and wanted to remind interested Wake families that if they wish to purchase optional tuition insurance, you must do it by August 23. And while we are talking about deadlines, please be sure your student has either waived or enrolled in student health insurance (due by Sept. 15); after that, the charge for our insurance plan will stay on their student account.

Students must check their move-in status and clear any holds ASAP
Starting today, students must check their move-in status. Students must be logged in using their @wfu.edu Google account.
New students want to see a screen with a green checkmark that looks like this (though their move-in date could be different); note that continuing students (i.e. sophomores-seniors) do not have an assigned appointment time – but they do need to see the green check.
If your student sees a screenshot like the one below, they need to take action to clear all holds that are listed ASAP.
Clarifying move-in assistance
As move-in approaches, families understandably have some questions about the move-in process, particularly our newest P’30 families (P’30s, if you have not read the Move-In Guide, that would be the best place to start).
A common question I have been getting: Will there be anyone to help us move our student into their building?
- If you are moving a new ‘30 student in, there is move-in assistance on the following days and times, as outlined in the Move-In Guide:
- Friday, August 14: 8-11 a.m.
- Tuesday, August 18: 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
- For families arriving outside those hours, you will be responsible for moving in all student belongings. You may wish to bring your own cart/wagon to assist you.
- If you are moving a continuing student in (i.e., sophomores-seniors), while there is no assistance as there was your first year, move-in carts will be available for continuing students to check out at designated residence halls. Students and families may wish to bring a cart or wagon from home as a backup in the event that all university-provided carts are in use. Please keep in mind that some buildings do not have elevators, so we ask that you plan accordingly.
P’30 weekly message
Incoming first-year families/P’30s, today’s weekly message might be one to save for future reference. It’s about where students can get help after hours, whether that is illness, a family emergency, etc.
There is also important info at the start of the message about students checking their move-in status and Deacon Health portal, so ensure your students are on those tasks.
World Cup partnership delivers estimated $10M in economic impact to Winston-Salem and Forsyth County
There is a new story on Inside WFU about Wake Forest’s hosting of the German Men’s National Team (Deutscher Fußball-Bund, DFB) for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This high-profile global partnership “generated an immediate estimated visitor economic impact of more than $10 million for the City of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County, while highlighting Winston-Salem as a premiere destination for economic investment to a global audience.”
Jim Nantz Announced as Jack Nicklaus Moderator
Here’s one for the golf fans and/or Face to Face Speaker Forum fans:
“We are thrilled to announce that famed sports commentator Jim Nantz will serve as the moderator for Face to Face’s Keynote event with legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus on April 20, 2027 at LJVM Coliseum. Nicklaus and Nantz will be the concluding speakers for Season Six.”
