After sweltering temps for much of July, we have been handed a stretch of gray, rainy, and cool days. Today it is only supposed to be a high of 72, and drizzly on and off. Certainly does not feel like late July.
As we close out this week, I bring you one opportunity, and one congrats to a lucky Deac who applied for something and it paid off handsomely. Read on.
Presale for Wake Families for Face to Face tickets
My colleagues who work with the Face to Face speaker series wanted to share this special opportunity for Wake families:

Families – while I certainly want as many of you as possible to come to Family Weekend (Oct. 2-4), I also encourage you to consider coming for one (or many) of our Face to Face speaker events. These are terrific ways to be exposed to leaders across a variety of disciplines and get an insider’s perspective on our speakers. So do consider either single tickets or season tickets for Face to Face.
And a note: there are student-only events (that are free for students, typically around 5 pm), and then the Keynote event is for those who purchase tickets (typically 7:30 pm). So if your student is dying to come with you to the Keynote event, you will want to purchase a ticket for them.
Wake student wins $3K GradGuard scholarship
I was super excited to read this next story. We ran an item in the May 7 WFU Should Know (e-newsletter for students) and May 8 Daily Deac about applying for a no-essay scholarship:
“GradGuard, our tuition insurance provider, is awarding five $3,000 scholarships to help with college expenses. It’s quick to apply, requires no essay, and is open to current and incoming students.”
I found out this week that a Wake student was one of the five recipients of the $3,000 scholarship!! Congratulations to our student (whose name I am not sharing for privacy reasons). Way to seize every opportunity – Go Deacs!
And as a reminder, please consider whether optional tuition insurance is right for your family. Wake does not benefit financially, but in the event your Deac has an unexpected illness or injury, you might wish you had it.
