For those Deacs on campus for Summer Session I, they are enjoying a beautiful day today. Temps are very moderate – only a high of 70 – and I hope they are soaking up as much outdoor time as they can before the heat of the summer settles in for good.
Our first story today is a reminder for those students on campus/in town: Deacon Health is open! Read on
Reminder: Deacon Health is open in the summer
Deacon Health asked me to remind the Daily Deacdom that they are open during the summer: hours are Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. So if your student is in summer school or living in Winston-Salem for a job or internship, Deacon Health is available for their healthcare needs.
Weekly Message for P’30s
Now that Memorial Day is over, we have resumed our weekly messages to incoming P’30 families, which go out every Tuesday. This week’s message is about safety and security, alerts, and housing assignments.
And a note to our P’30 families: if you are not seeing this message in your inbox, likely one of two things is happening: 1) we do not have your correct email address and need you to verify your email in Wake Network, or 2) our messages are rolling to your spam/junk/quarantine.
For #2, you may want to check your spam filter/junk/quarantine folder for any @wfu.edu emails, because from time to time people’s Internet Service Providers interpret our emails as spam. I would also recommend doing a search on any @wfu.edu emails because you may find it that way.
It may help to add ," rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">p, ," rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">alumni@
If this is a work email, it might be worth talking to your IT department about whether they can tweak your settings so our emails can get past your firewall. If this is a home email, you can talk to your ISP about your firewall.
Unfortunately, when we press ‘send’ on an email, there is no way to guarantee how that email will be received and interpreted by individual firewalls or spam filters. But hopefully one of the above suggestions will work for you.
A poignant social media post about students leaving for college
Because I work in higher ed and specifically with college parents and families, my social media feed has a lot of related content. I saw this post on Instagram the other day and it hit me in all the feels.
It is about a mother and a daughter in the summer leading up to college move-in.
You might want a tissue. I’m an easy crier and this one got me.
Have a great rest of your day, Daily Deacdom!
