Finals are officially over, all non-graduating students have moved out of their residence halls, and all that’s left is to turn in final grades and get to Commencement. We can’t wait to celebrate the Class of 2026 and their proud parents and families!
Because we are in full-tilt prep for Commencement, do not be surprised if Daily Deacs are briefer in the coming days – starting today 🙂
Congratulations to our Club Softball team: Club Softball Division 2 World Series Champions!!
Some proud Club Softball parents let me know that Wake Forest just won the World Series for Division 2:
“Championship Sunday did not disappoint, as we had 3 great games set up by an all-time great championship game between Northern Michigan and Wake Forest.
the Demon Deacons took home their first National Championship on a walk-off grand-slam! Congratulations to Wake Forest!”
Freshman Pitcher, Maleah Lovell took home the 2026 NCSA DII World Series MVP award! “Lovell pitched in every game of the tournament, going a perfect 5-0 and also hit 2 home runs to help propel the Demon Deacons to their first NCSA DII World Series Championship!”
My colleagues who work with our Club Sports program shared some additional goodies as well:
- Here are their overall standings. (You can see their division and overall record there)
- Here is an album of some photos of their team that we took
- The team’s Instagram is here so you can give it a follow
Again, congrats to our ladies for being World Champions! GO DEACS!
Canvas support for students and online checklist of steps to take ASAP
Following last week’s global hack of Canvas, our learning management system, Information Systems sent an email to students on Saturday morning with guidance on what students should do to maintain academic continuity if there was another Campus disruption, as “Public references have suggested the possibility of a Canvas-related disruption on Tuesday, May 12.”
Students who are logged in with their WFU email can access this online checklist with steps they should take by end of day today (if they did not do so on Saturday when they first received the email).
When final grades will be visible
Final grades for students graduating this May were due today from the faculty, which means that they should be available to graduating seniors by tomorrow.
Our faculty need to focus on grading the graduating seniors first, given the looming Commencement date and the need to ensure that seniors have met all graduation requirements. Once the seniors’ grades have been entered, faculty go back and finish grading all the ’27s-’29s exams. Final grades for non-graduating students are due to be entered by Tuesday, May 19; and students would be able to see them by the next day.
