German National Team to Host Open Training Event June 8
In this Issue: watch the German National Team in an open training session
I was super excited to get an email yesterday saying that the German National Football (i.e., soccer) Team will have an open training session while they are staying at Graylyn, so that those of us in Winston-Salem have a chance to see the World Cup team.
While most of our students will not be here over the summer, we will have students who are doing in-person summer school, and/or student-athletes here to train. If you have one of those students (or are one of those students!), please consider signing up for it. I have worked at Wake for nearly 27 years and I have never gotten the chance to see a World Cup team practice on our campus – you gotta grab these opportunities when they present themselves!
Here are the details:
“Wake Forest University will host an open training session for the German Men’s National Team on Monday, June 8, from 5:30-7 p.m. at W. Dennie Spry Stadium. Winston-Salem will serve as the German team’s home base for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
This is a free event for fans, but tickets are required and limited. Gates will open at 5 p.m., and fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 5:30 p.m. Ticket claims for the training session will open on Friday, May 1. To sign up for the interest list to be the first to receive ticket information, please click here.
Wake Forest men’s soccer head coach Bobby Muuss and women’s soccer head coach Tony da Luz, along with a representative from the German Men’s National Team, will provide opening remarks. Following the hour-long session, players will be available for photos and autographs. Concessions and merchandise will be available throughout the evening.”
