Today is the second and final Campus Day for Accepted Students, and today is an even prettier day than Friday’s event; certainly it is warmer. Many thanks to all the students and families who stopped by our table to say hello – we met folks from Boston to Austin, Phili to Miami, Chicago to Louisville, and more. Wishing everyone a wonderful day with us – and I hope to see many of you back here in August for move-in.
Now to today’s top stories…
Baseball Analytics seeking students (especially incoming ’30 students)
I was so happy to get an email from one of our students who works with the Baseball Analytics team, because there is an upcoming opportunity that is so exciting, particularly for our incoming ’30 students (or current first-year students, etc.)
The Baseball Analytics team is an official offshoot of our baseball program. Each year, the Baseball Analytics team recruits new members to join the team. They are particularly eager to recruit incoming students in the Class of 2030, as it can be really helpful to have students who participate all four years they are at Wake.
Whether you are a P’30 family member, a ’30 incoming student (or any other year), if your student loves baseball, data, and/or coding, encourage your Deac to check out the Baseball Analytics program. Here’s how student Asa Fleisher (’28) describes the work:
“Hi, my name is Asa Fleischer and I am a sophomore and a member of the Wake Forest Baseball Analytics Team. We are a team of 23 students who work directly with the Wake Forest Baseball Program to collect and analyze data to support the coaching staff.
We are currently looking for new members for the 2026–2027 school year, and we’d love to connect with incoming students and underclassmen who are interested in using data to help the Deacs win.
As a part of the team, I have learned coding skills and made scouting reports that have had direct on-field contributions. The team has also given me a great community of people who have a love and passion for baseball. It is one of the best experiences I’ve had at Wake, and it is a unique opportunity to work directly with a nationally-recognized baseball program while building skills in analytics.
If this is something you are interested in, the application to join the team opened on April 13 and closes May 11 at 11:50 PM. Feel free to check out the flyer below, and students can click here to apply!”
New Program: WFU/Charlotte: Undergraduate Internship Semester
Longtime Daily Deac readers know I am a huge fan of the Wake Washington program, which gives students a domestic semester-away experience with courses as well as an internship – which can be enormously helpful as students enter the job search.
I am happy to say we have a new program fashioned after that same model: classes plus internship in another highly-desirable student destination: Charlotte. Here’s how the program describes itself:
“Take your Wake Forest education into the heart of the Queen City for the Spring 2027 semester! This immersive new program combines high-impact internship experience with a specialized semester of academic credit featuring BEM 210. Introduction to Business, CSC 195. Data Visualization, ENT 314. Leadership and Character in Entrepreneurship, and CGS. 229: Internship.
Designed for students eager to explore ways to bridge the gap between the classroom and their professional interests, this program offers a unique living and learning experience tailored across a broad spectrum of sectors – from small, mid-sized, and large firms to influential nonprofits and civic organizations.
Priority Application Deadline: July 15 to ensure the best match between students’ and our internship partners. Apply here.”
Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) fraternity
My colleagues in the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Engagement asked me to share the following information about a new fraternity chapter, known informally as FIJI:
“The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Engagement is excited to announce that Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) is officially joining the Wake Forest University Fraternity & Sorority community. Starting this Fall 2026, we will begin our outreach to find the next generation of courageous leaders on campus. Phi Gamma Delta is more than just a fraternity; it is a lifelong commitment to excellence and a community dedicated to pushing one another toward their full potential. If you are interested in learning more about Phi Gamma Delta please complete this form.”
So if you have sons who are interested, be sure to encourage them to register their interest.
Make it a great week, Daily Deacdom!
