We’ve swung back into a bit of chillier weather. Today’s high is only going to be 62, and for the past couple of days, it has been cold enough in the morning where you might need a hoodie, sweater, or light jacket, but it gets warmer around noon, and is fine if you are in the sun.

The weather is still looking good for our two Campus Days for Accepted Students (this Friday and Monday): high of 78 and 83, respectively, and only 5% chance of rain. We can’t wait to meet all the students and families – and I hope to see a lot of you at move-in this fall!

A note from last night as I was leaving my class: I saw a yoga class being held on the lower Quad near the first year residential communities. But it wasn’t just outdoor yoga: it was outdoor yoga with dogs! The music they were playing was dog themed, and in between the instructor calling out yoga poses, they would say things like “now pet a dog!” and students would snuggle the closest dogs nearby. I had my eye on a beautiful Great Pyrenees mix (I suspect it was part Golden Retriever) because I have a Pyr mix at home. Anyway, it was a moment of wonderful levity to see students doing yoga with dogs on our beautiful campus.

Now on to today’s news…

Program for ’26s – Deacon Dive: Work, Life, & Finances After Wake

For our P’26s/’26s who are reading, this upcoming event might be really helpful for Senior Deacs:

April 26 from 10 a.m.- 2:30 p.m.

Space is limited and registration is required. Students can register here.”

Photostory: a day in the life of student Max Schellhammer (’26)

I happened to bump into one of our talented photographers yesterday as they were working on a student story about “a day in the life” of a student. While the one they were shooting was still a work in progress, we do have one ready for viewing right now: it is a photostory about student Max Schellhammer.

Max is an engineering and music double major. In his [very busy] day, you will see him in meetings with faculty, music practice, classes, playing for the Pep Band at a Wake basketball game, and more.

After graduation in May, Max “will move to Raleigh, North Carolina to work as an Overhead Transmission Engineer with the Kiewit Corporation’s Power Delivery sector. He will be designing large, long-distance, electrical tower lines connecting different communities and industries.

‘Coming into college, I doubted every one of my abilities, and compared myself to others frequently. Through the mentorship of my professors and the support of my friends, I have since found myself much more confident, well-spoken, and social,’ he said.”

The day-in-the-life stories are often our most popular ones, and I hope you enjoy seeing Wake through Max’s eyes. To learn more about Max and other Wake Forest seniors, you can also visit our Senior Showcase website.

Photostory: Holi celebration

One of the most colorful moments of the Spring semester comes during our Holi celebration. Holi is the festival of colors, and is typically celebrated Holi in countries with large South Asian or Hindu populations.

At our Wake Holi celebration, there was free Indian food, performances, great music, and – of course – a lot of color. You can see the full photostory here, and I am also sharing a couple of pics below.

Several hundred students attend Wake Forest’s annual Holi Celebration, the Festival of Colors, on Saturday, April 4, 2026 on the Manchester Plaza. Holi is popular in countries with large South Asian or Hindu populations. There was free Indian food, performances, great music, and colors at the event. This is the 'before' picture when they are in their white tshirts
