Happy middle-of-the-week to you. It’s currently 61 degrees and sunny (about noon) and while there are still places where snow had been piled during plowing, those places are melting. We still have a lot of wet/muddy/soggy places on campus just because there had been *so* much snow, but that is to be expected.
I’m teaching a class this semester from 5-6:15 p.m. I took these first pictures as I left class on January 15.
This one is from last night, leaving at about the same time.
Between days like this, when there is a warmish breeze, and seeing how much lighter it is getting every night, you can let yourself believe Spring is really on the way. And that is a good feeling.

“The Studio is offering a series of hands‑on workshops this month to help students grow their digital, creative, and professional skills. All sessions are open to every student, and no prior experience is required.
Digital Portfolio Creation
February 17 & 19, 5–6 p.m.
A strong digital portfolio helps you showcase your skills, projects, and creative growth. This monthly workshop guides you through selecting your best work, shaping your professional identity, and building a polished portfolio you can confidently share.
Hosted in collaboration with the Office of Personal & Career Development (OPCD) and the Marketing & Advertising Club. Register for the Digital Portfolio Creation workshop
Mobile Filmmaking Student Tool Time
February 15, 6–7 p.m.
Turn your phone into a storytelling tool. This drop‑in session covers practical shooting techniques, mobile apps, and simple workflows to help you create strong video content with the device you already have. Register for the Mobile Filmmaking workshop
Adobe Premiere Pro Basics
Tuesdays & Thursdays, first two weeks of February, 5–6 p.m. [i.e., there is one tomorrow night]
Get started with video editing in Adobe Premiere Pro. These beginner‑friendly sessions introduce the core tools and workflows used in professional editing, from navigating the interface to exporting finished videos. Register for the Adobe Premiere workshop.”

Interfraternity Expansion Information Session
My colleagues in Fraternity and Sorority Engagement asked me to pass along the following notice of an upcoming event:
“Students: are you interested in shaping the future of the Interfraternity Council at Wake Forest? Join us for the IFC Expansion Information Session on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 5:30 p.m. in Pugh Auditorium.
We will review expansion policies, timelines, and share information about potential new organizations joining our community. This session is open to any student who is curious about the growth and development of our IFC community. We encourage you to attend, ask questions, and learn more about what expansion could mean for fraternity life at Wake Forest.”
