This weekend was a doozy: we got about 10″ of snow at my house (this was on top of the 2-3″ of compacted snow with a solid top of ice).

The snow was pretty coming down. But I am OVER all the snow. (I hate winter. I am a certified Snow Crab).

On the bright side, the snow was light, fluffy, and easy to shovel. I’m manifesting some prolonged sun and temps over 35 to help melt everything.

Let’s get right to the news folks are waiting for…

Operational status tomorrow (Tues.): opening in person at 11 a.m.

We received a Wake Alert message this afternoon saying that we would open for in-person work at 11 a.m. tomorrow:

“On Tuesday, Feb. 3, Wake Forest will open for on-site learning and work at 11 a.m. as travel conditions allow. No classes will take place remotely or on-site before 11 a.m. The graduate and professional schools will communicate any variations to this schedule directly with their faculty, staff and students.

We recognize that weather-related conditions continue to affect road safety to varying degrees across the region, and individuals should use their best judgment based on their personal circumstances.”

Intro to Mindfulness classes

This morning I got an email about upcoming Intro to Mindfulness classes that I wanted to share here in the Daily Deacdom. You can click on the photo to enlarge or visit our Mindful Wake website. There are both in-person and virtual options.

I have taken this class before and it has been extremely helpful in me managing my anxiety. If your Deac (or you, if you are a student reader) wants to learn some tools to calm the mind and be more present in your life and relationships, this could be a great tool for you.

Winter in the Forest photostory

There is a new photostory about the snow – and it is chock full of pictures of students having fun in the snow. I hope you see your Deac!

Students’ 2025 Tax Year 1098-T Forms Now Available

My friends in Student Financial Services want students and families to be aware that students’ 2025 tax year 1098-T forms are now available. Read the full message.

Because of privacy laws (FERPA), this form is only available to students. While students may have granted Third-Party Access to their parents/families for billing, tax forms must be accessed by the student through their Workday account. Students can follow the instructions here to download their form.

That’s all I have for you, Daily Deacdom. Bring on the warmer temps and melting!
